High-Level Breakdown Analysis: New Jersey 2019 Energy Master Plan (EMP) Final Draft
Document Description from the website https://www.nj.gov/emp/:
Governor Murphy, through Executive Order 28, set an ambitious goal of setting New Jersey on the path to 100% clean energy by 2050. The Draft 2019 Energy Master Plan (EMP), was released in June 2019, and focuses on strategies and goals to reach Governor Murphy’s 100 percent clean energy mandates. In conjunction with developing the Draft 2019 EMP, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities contracted with Rocky Mountain Institute to develop the Integrated Energy Plan (IEP). The IEP models several future scenarios and identifies the most strategic and least-cost pathways to achieve New Jersey’s 2050 goals of 100 percent clean energy and the 80 percent emissions reduction by 2050 required by the Global Warming Response Act. The scenarios that result from the IEP will be incorporated into the Final 2019 EMP, which will be delivered by the end of 2019.
New Jersey’s Energy Master Plan (EMP) sets forth a strategic vision for the production, distribution, consumption, and conservation of energy in the State of New Jersey. The state’s energy policy reflects the full scope of New Jersey’s current energy sector, as well as its future. We’ll create new jobs, industries, and workforce development as the state expands its green economy, providing exciting new opportunities for New Jersey’s residents and business community.
